Devin R. Mitts, B.Sc. (Hons.), LL.B.

Partner

Devin R. Mitts is a native of the Trenton area and attended Trenton High School. He then obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from Queen’s University before attending law school at the University of British Columbia.


Devin began his career here with the firm as an articling student prior to his call to the Bar and has returned following his call as an associate.

Jennifer L. Seufert, B.Sc. (Hons.), J.D.

Partner

Jennifer Seufert holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor and an Honours Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. Jennifer began her legal career articling in the quaint town of Chatham, Ontario, focused on the areas of Civil Litigation, Wills and Estates and Family Law, prior to her call to the Bar in 2015. Jennifer joined our firm here in Trenton as an associate in 2015.

Prior to attending law school, Jennifer worked part-time as a legal assistant focused mainly on the areas of Family Law and Wills. While in law school, Jennifer volunteered her time as part of the Family Law Information Centre and Windsor Lawyers Feed the Hungry. Jennifer also acted as a Windsor Law Admissions Committee File Reader during her second and third years, being responsible for evaluating admission applications of prospective law students. In her final year of law school Jennifer was given the opportunity to work with judges at the Ontario Court of Justice. Jennifer was granted a spot in the reputable Family Law Clerkship offered to only two students a semester.

Caterina E. Gucciardi, B.A. (Hons.), LL.B., LL.M.

 Associate

Caterina has resided in Prince Edward County for approximately 10 years and has practiced law in Quinte West since 2009 with Sioui Mitts Law, Barristers and Solicitors.


She was called to the Ontario bar in 1989. Her legal career as a practicing lawyer spans almost 30 years, and in that time, she has acquired extensive legal knowledge and experience, aggressively and strategically pursuing her client’s interests. Caterina has considerable trial experience and has proven to be a formidable litigator. She has a broad law practice and has focused on high conflict family matters and civil litigation.


Education and Skills:

She has developed mediation and dispute resolution skills and completed a Masters in Law in Alternative Dispute Resolution in 2010.
She is a qualified mediator and arbitrator.
Her creative and adaptable approach to problem solving assists her clients in addressing legal challenges.

John S. Wonnacott, B.A., LL.B.

Associate

John Wonnacott is a fifth-generation Quinte native and has been practicing criminal law for over 31 years. In the tireless defence of his clients, he has appeared at all levels of court, ranging from Provincial Offences Court, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.


Mr. Wonnacott completed his Bachelor’s degree in Criminology at Carleton University in 1978 and thereafter obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa in 1982. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1984 and subsequently called to the Bar of Nunavut in 2003. As a Public Defender, Mr. Wonnacott represented the interests of the indigenous Inuit population of Nunavut for a two-year period before returning to Belleville in 2005 to continue the practice of Criminal Law.


Areas of Practice:

While experienced in all aspects of Criminal Law, his chief areas of practice include the defence of charges of impaired driving, assault, sexual assault, sexual interference, pornography and culpable homicide.
As a veteran of dozens of Jury trials, Mr. Wonnacott enjoys a reputation as a well-prepared, precise and effective cross-examiner in the courtroom.
